Goosey Goosey Gander
Goosey goosey gander where shall I wander
Upstairs, downstairs and in my lady's chamber
There I met an old man who wouldn't say his prayers
WI took him by the left leg and threw him down the stairs
About the Rhyme
The rhyme is sometimes concluded with the following three lines:
The stairs went "crack"
He broke his back
And all the little ducks went "quack, quack, quack"
This nursery rhyme is about a kid meeting an old man who wouldn't say his prayers.
The kid decides to take the matter in his own hand. He takes this old man's left
leg and throws him down the stairs as a punishment.
The moral in Goosey Goosey Gander's lyrics imply that something unpleasant would
surely happen to anyone failing to say their prayers correctly.
